Graced by Shirley Bassey performing her iconic song Diamonds Are Forever and worn by Charlize Theron during the Cannes Film Festival, the ultimate queen of the red carpet was recovered from the Karowe mine in Botswana in April 2015.

An extraordinary 342-carat Type IIa rough diamond of perfect colour and exceptional purity, it was later transformed into a remarkable high jewellery collection known as the Garden of Kalahari — the most precious jewellery set ever produced by Chopard.
From this exceptional rough, 23 polished diamonds were created, including five stones weighing over 20 carats. These remarkable gems gave rise to six spectacular interchangeable high jewellery pieces crafted in the Maison’s High Jewellery workshops.

The creations from the Garden of Kalahari collection have since appeared on some of the world’s most celebrated red carpets, worn by Charlize Theron at the Academy Awards in 2017, Lady Gaga at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, Rihanna at the Diamond Ball in New York in 2018 and Sabrina Carpenter at the Grammy Awards in 2025.

The collaboration between Taché and Chopard also helped showcase Botswana-origin diamonds to the world, highlighting both their extraordinary beauty and their provenance.
